The Foundation of Our Care

From Esmé

My approach to postpartum care is rooted in community. Growing up, I watched close family members navigate postpartum depression and anxiety. Their openness about their experiences showed me how meaningful the consistent support of loved ones and caregivers can be. That experience shaped my belief that no parent or family should go through the postpartum period alone unless they choose to do so. As a doula, I offer information, encouragement, and practical care without judgment, and I always respect that each family’s journey belongs to them. I believe in parents’ intuition and work to reinforce their confidence as they learn their baby and grow into their new identities. I make sure each of my team members shares this dedication in addition to their unique expertise.

It is a privilege to step into homes during such a beautiful, intimate, and complex time. To be trusted as a caregiver is not something we take lightly, and we take great care to ensure that such trust only strengthens with time. We are continually honored to be welcomed into these spaces and moved by each family’s postpartum experience. Being able to witness and support the formation of bonds that will last far beyond our time with individual families is possibly the greatest gift of our work.

I can’t say enough about the gift Esmé was to our family. My wife and I welcomed twins while also caring for a 2-year-old, and Esmé seamlessly entered our home with a calm, grounding presence. She was a quiet, yet deeply reassuring support, helping us navigate our many questions and tending thoughtfully to our needs as postpartum parents. Without judgment, she skillfully supported and guided the care of both our newborns and our toddler. We are incredibly grateful for the care she provided our family during such a tender time. She helped our experience shift from surviving to thriving.
